A self-invested pension plan allows for a far greater choice of investment choices than a traditional pension scheme, and crucially you make these choices yourself.

Recent changes in legislation that came into force in 2006 mean it is possible to now include any of the following in your pension:

  • particular stocks and shares quoted on a recognised UK or overseas stock exchange;
  • government securities;
  • unit trusts;
  • investment trusts;
  • insurance company funds;
  • traded endowment policies;
  • deposit accounts with banks and building societies;
  • National Savings products; and
  • commercial property (such as offices, shops or factory premises).

It must be noted that this list is not exhaustive but because sipps.org.uk is a  nationwide service investors are not limited by an individual company and a trusted FSA partner can therefore find the best deal for you.
